MCP connection guide
Bring LegalZoom
into the conversation.
Connect a supported AI assistant to approved LegalZoom tools. Your assistant handles the conversation; LegalZoom handles the tool contract and account authorization.
How the connection works
AI client
A supported connector experience
LegalZoom authorization
Sign in only when account access is needed
Live tools
A versioned, client-specific tool set
Tool availability depends on the AI client, authorization, account access, and applicable LegalZoom services.
Connect
Four steps, inside your AI client.
LegalZoom uses the connector and authorization experience provided by each supported client. You do not need to paste an API key into this page.
- 01
Open your connector settings
In your AI client, open the area used to manage connectors, integrations, or connected apps.
- 02
Choose LegalZoom
Select LegalZoom from the supported connector directory. The client will start the secure authorization flow when account access is needed.
- 03
Review access and sign in
Sign in with your LegalZoom account when prompted and review the access request before continuing.
- 04
Ask for a supported task
Return to the conversation and ask your assistant to use LegalZoom. Available actions depend on the client, your authorization, and applicable LegalZoom services.
What you can do
Start with the outcome, not a tool name.
Ask naturally. Your assistant can choose an available LegalZoom capability for the task. The exact tools depend on the client you use, and some actions require sign-in or an applicable LegalZoom service.

Connection contract
Deliberate access, not blanket access.
Connecting LegalZoom does not expose every service or every piece of account data. Each client receives a defined tool surface, and account-aware tools require authorization before they can act on your behalf.
Public discovery
Some general knowledge and product-discovery capabilities can work without reading LegalZoom account data.
Account-aware actions
When a task needs account information or an action on your behalf, the client prompts you to authorize LegalZoom.
Service eligibility
Authorization does not override product, plan, jurisdiction, or service requirements. The tool can explain the next available step.
Client-specific availability
Every integration exposes a deliberate, versioned tool set. A capability available in one AI client may not appear in another.
You stay in control
Authorization is requested in context, when a tool needs it. Review the request, confirm the LegalZoom account you intend to use, and remove the connector later from the client’s settings if you no longer want it connected.
Privacy and data handling
Know what crosses the boundary.
A LegalZoom connection sits inside another company’s AI client. Review both the LegalZoom terms and the client’s terms before sharing sensitive information.
Read the LegalZoom Privacy Policy →-
Review before authorizing
Read the access request shown by your AI client and continue only when it matches the task you asked LegalZoom to perform.
-
Share deliberately
Only include account details, documents, and conversation context you want the selected workflow to use.
-
Uploads start with you
Document workflows require you to choose or upload the file. Temporary upload links may expire and can be recreated from the conversation.
-
Manage the connection
You can disconnect LegalZoom in your AI client. Activity inside that client is also governed by the client’s own terms and privacy practices.
Troubleshooting
Find the boundary, then fix the connection.
Connector problems usually come from the AI client, authorization, capability availability, or service eligibility. Use the symptom to identify where to start.
- I cannot find LegalZoom in my AI client.
- Confirm that your client supports LegalZoom connectors and that you are using an eligible account or workspace. Connector directories and rollout timing are controlled by the AI client.
- The sign-in or authorization flow did not finish.
- Return to the client, disconnect LegalZoom if it appears partially connected, then connect again and complete every sign-in prompt. If the client opened a separate browser window, return to the original conversation after authorization.
- A tool or action is not appearing.
- Tool sets differ by client and can change by integration version. Start a new conversation after connecting, confirm that LegalZoom is enabled, and check the public capability directory for current client availability.
- An account-aware action is unavailable.
- Confirm that you authorized the intended LegalZoom account. Some actions also require an applicable product, plan, jurisdiction, or other eligibility. The assistant may explain the next available step when one exists.
- A document upload link expired or failed.
- Ask the assistant to start a fresh document upload from the conversation. Upload sessions are temporary, and an older link may no longer accept a file.
- A LegalZoom action returned an error.
- Retry the action once. If it still fails, keep the exact error message and contact LegalZoom Customer Care for account or service issues, or the AI client’s support team for connector-interface issues.
For agents and developers
Read the live interface.
The machine-readable catalog is generated from the shared capability registry and integration metadata, so schemas, versions, and authentication stay current without duplicating them here.
